JumpCloud Policies

JumpCloud is used by Saga IT to remotely manage Mac, Windows, and Linux devices. We manage these devices with "policies". Below you will find the policies Saga employs and their descriptions.

If there is a managed policy that is preventing you from doing something or if it is causing you issues, please submit a ticket at helpdesk@saga.org with the policy name, the obstacle you are facing, and the reason you need a workaround.

Mac

  • Complete policy list: Configure Settings for Mac Policies
  • FileVault 2 Encryption
    • FileVault is what encrypts your Mac device. This policy ensures your device is encrypted.
  • Apple System Updates
    • Regular system updates will come from Apple and will automatically install after 90 days. 
  • Disable Siri
    • Siri is Apple's A.I., and will be disabled.
  • JumpCloud MDM Enrollment
    • This will enroll your device into the Mac instance of JumpCloud.
  • Gatekeeper Control
    • Gatekeeper is used to remotely install applications. This will be enabled to provide software support.
  • Password Modification
    • Users will be able to reset their local password that is used to log into the device.
  • Spotlight Internet search
    • Internet search results will be removed from Spotlight Search

Windows

  • Complete policy list: Configure Settings for Windows Policies
  • BitLocker Full Disk Encryption
    • BitLocker is what encrypts your Windows device. This policy ensures your device is encrypted.
  • Windows Updates Management
    • We manage Windows Updates and the schedule it is on. Windows Updates will apply the last week of every month, on a Friday at 1:00am CDT/CST. 
  • Disable Biometrics
    • If your laptop has any biometric log-in feature such as Face Scan or Fingerprint Scan, it will be disabled.
  • Disable Cortana
    • Cortana is Windows A.I., and will be disabled.
  • Disable Windows Store Application
    • Every Windows Machine comes with a store application. To prevent clutter, it will be disabled.
