Computer Cart: Replacing Batteries

If your computer cart's lock does not turn on or respond, the batteries may need to be replaced.

Tools Needed:

  • Phillips Screwdriver (with a star/plus)
  • 2 AAA or 2 AA batteries (depending on computer cart model)

To replace the batteries:

  1. Open the cart from the back with a key
    1. If you do not have the key to the back, you may need to remove the door off from the hinges
  2. Remove laptops and power cords to create an opening between the back panel and the front panel (Where the keypad is located)
  3. From the back, you will need to reach to the keypad (Which will be on your right side) and remove the battery panel
  4. Remove the battery from the key pad
  5. Add the 2 fresh batteries to the panel
  6. Close up the battery pack and you will be set.

If your keypad looks like the picture below and has a 3.5mm port on the side of the keypad, you need to use the 3.5mm jack to 9V converter that will provide temporary power that will allow you to replace the batteries.

  • NOTE: If you do not have a 3.5mm - 9V converter, you need to contact IT to have one purchased for your site.

If your keypad looks similar but does not have a 3.5mm port, you will need to use a micro-USB power cable to grant your keypad temporary power.

Important Note: If you change the batteries or you experience power issues, your device will most likely reset the current password back to "1111"
