What to do if your Chromebook won't turn on
Troubleshooting Steps
If your Chromebook will not turn on, there are a few things we can try to fix this.
- Make sure your device is plugged in to get a charge. When plugged in, there should be a light indicator turn on.

- If plugged in and your Chromebook still does not turn on (no indicator light), try to plug it in a different charging port if available and wait for ~5 minutes. If it still has no indicator light, please repeat this with a different USB-C charging cord.

- If the light is still not on, your laptop needs to be serviced by IT.
If there is an indicator light on when plugged in and will not turn on, then do the following:
- Hold the refresh and power button for 15 seconds.
- Let the battery drain by unplugging the device and leaving the lid open over night.
- On the next day, plug in the device again to see if the charging light indicator is on and if the device can be turned on.
If your device still does not turn on after these steps, please contact IT at helpdesk@saga.org, describe your outcomes from the above troubleshooting steps, and provide the serial number of the malfunctioning Chromebook. Here's a guide on how to find it: Identifying Your Device's Serial Number
