Your Serial Number

Every device has a serial number on it or in the settings of the device. When working with IT, providing them the serial number can expedite the support process. With the serial number, they can identify the exact model you have and remotely view diagnostic data that may shed light on the reasons you are experiencing an issue. 

Most of the time, the serial number can be found on the bottom of the device or in the settings. Continue reading to find your device and how to find your device's serial number. A lot of serials are preface with either "Serial", "S/N", "SN", or "ST".

Chromebook

You can find your Chromebook's serial number by pressing alt + v on the sign-in screen, which will display it in the top right corner along with the Chrome operating system version.

As mention at the beginning, you can also find the serial number at the bottom of your device.

  • HP

  • ASUS

  • Acer

Note: The SNID for Acer is NOT the serial number. You should be looking for "S/N".

Windows

  • Dell

  • Lenovo

Mac

  • MacBook Air

Router

  • InHand ER805 5G Edge Router
There is a sticker on the side of the router.
The serial number (S/N)
